Sustainability

We put great emphasis on sustainable production by providing fair markets to farmers, adhering to environmental standards and respecting social rights throughout our operations. We also engage in project work on behalf of our clients, as part of our own CSR objectives and in public private partnership (PPP) arrangements.

We are members of the Common Code for the Coffee Community (4C) Association and engage closely with the debate surrounding sustainability in the coffee sector. Additionally, we are approved and active suppliers for all of the major codes of conduct found in the sector - Rainforest Alliance, Utz Certified, Fairtrade, Café Practices, AAA and Organic coffee.

Our development work has varied from provision of housing for poor families in Colombia to links with companies such as Lavazza, Nestle and Starbucks to implement social infrastructure projects and good agricultural practices. We are always happy to make available our significant resources in developing countries to achieve development goals.

We engage in our own CSR efforts on an ED&F Man group level through our Charitable Donations Committee. The focus of our contributions is on projects where we can make a real difference. As such we have concentrated our efforts on smaller organisations with a local emphasis or where our employees have been directly involved.
